Civil Servants in Ntungamo Urged to Avoid Multiple Borrowing

Body:

By Anthony Kushaba

Ntungamo District Chief Administrative Officer, Kiiza Fedelis, has called on civil servants to desist from multiple borrowing and instead unite to tackle challenges affecting them.

Speaking this morning at a meeting held in the district council hall with parish chiefs, community development officers, sub-county chiefs, and town clerks, Kiiza noted that some financial institutions have been exploiting civil servants through high interest rates and deductions. He revealed that district workers have now formed a Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) aimed at addressing their financial needs without exploitation.

Kiiza further encouraged civil servants to intensify their mobilization efforts for the Parish Development Model (PDM), describing it as a key driver of grassroots transformation.

At the same function, Ntungamo District Community Development Officer, Ambrose Tusiime, emphasized the vital role civil servants play in ensuring the success of the PDM. He urged them to properly mobilize communities to guarantee its effectiveness.

The meeting was also attended by Brigadier John Tumwebaze, the Operation Wealth Creation commander for Ntungamo, who cautioned civil servants to uphold transparency in their work.

This gathering highlighted the importance of financial discipline, collective action, and accountability as pillars for both personal welfare and community development in Ntungamo District.
