Ntungamo District has emerged victorious in the National Scouting Competitions, clinching the overall trophy and two other major awards at the Kaazi National Camping Grounds in Entebbe.
The competitions, which kicked off on 21st August and concluded on 28th August 2025, attracted scouts from across the country. Ntungamo was recognized as the best and highest mobilizer of schools, with 21 institutions—including Muntuyera High School—actively participating. The district also triumphed in the scouts’ football competitions.
Robert Atuzarirwe, the District Inspector of Schools in charge of scouting, credited the achievement to strong collaboration between district leadership and scout leaders, which has boosted mobilization efforts.
Adnan Lubega, Ntungamo’s District Scouts Commissioner, noted that consistency in training and participation has been key to their success. “Regular engagement gives scouts the opportunity to interact with peers from different regions and prepare better for competitions,” he said.
Praise Murebe, the District Scouts Commissioner for Planning and a teacher at Nyakyera Primary School, emphasized the importance of grassroots mobilization. He also hailed the role of local media, particularly Radio Ankole, for supporting the initiative with free airtime and awareness campaigns.
At the school level, Yoram Muzahura, headteacher of Muntuyera High School-Kitunga, attributed their performance to discipline and backing from the district leadership, staff, and alumni.
Ntungamo District Chairperson and Secretary for Education, Sam Muchunguzi Rwakigooba, commended the scouts for flying the district’s flag high and pledged continued support.
“This victory demonstrates what unity, discipline, and teamwork can achieve. As a district, we remain committed to nurturing scouting activities,” he said.
Ntungamo district chief Administrative officer Fedelis Kiiza commended teamwork among the scouts in the district and revealed that they need continued support.
With the 2025 national trophy now under their belt, Ntungamo scouts have cemented their reputation as some of the most vibrant and best-organized in the country.
