Farmers Urged to Embrace Modern Post harvest Handling Practices

Farmers in Ntungamo Sub County have been urged to embrace modern post-harvest handling practices in a bid to get better quality produce and better prices.

The call was made by Albert Mugabe the Ntungamo district production officer while speaking to local leaders during a one day sensitization workshop on the Agriculture Cluster Development Program at Ntungamo district council hall.

Local Leaders Asked to Protect Government Land

 

 

Ntungamo district local council V chairperson Denis Singahache has called on leaders at the district level and those in lower administrative units to ensure that government land is protected from grabbers.

 

Singhahache who was addressing local council three chairperson for sub counties and Town councils in a meeting held at Ntungamo district council hall revealed that public land is being targeted by land grabbers who usually take advantage of the laxity by some leaders.

Leaders Urged to embrace Implementation of Actions from Regular Trainings for Improved Served Delivery

 

Leaders have been urged to embrace regular trainings and skills development if they are to effectively deliver services to the people they serve.

 

The call was made by the Ntungamo district Principal Assistant Secretary Fedelis Kizza. He was speaking at the follow up meeting with CCL (Centre for Creative Leadership) a SOCY (Sustainable Outcomes for Children and Youth Project) implemented by a consortium of partners’ i.e CRS (Catholic Relief Services) the prime and TPO Uganda the Implementing Partner. 

 Head Teachers Cautioned Against Swapping Pupils

Headteachers in Ntungamo district have been cautioned against the practice of swapping primary seven candidates with private schools who tend to register those sought to be average performers from government schools and retain a small number of those thought to be able to score division one.

 

This was made public by Ntungamo district education officer Odo Arigye during the function to release 2018 primary schools mock results.

 

Politicians Advised on Need to Pursue Further Studies

Ntungamo district local council five chairperson Denis Singahache has urged leaders in the district to focus on going for further education if they are to effectively serve their electorates and hold technocrats accountable.

 

 

Speaking at the function, Ntungamo district chief administrative officer Kweyamba Ruhemba urged the politicians to desist from corrupt tendencies which he says cripple service delivery
